Classic winter BBHR

26th September 2020 13 riders 3 groups decided to tackle the classic route of the Barnsley Boundary Heroes Ride and yes raise funds for Help for Heroes using their entry fee for the sportive we normally run. 78 miles 6800ft climbing with a touch of frost bite. Usual 2 food stops but in slightly different places and no mechanical assistance, we knew it was going to be a tough Ride as few to the present situation COVID-19 No one had any serious miles in our legs and knowing that each section of the ride got harder as the miles ticked off, each group worked well looking out for each other and the last feed station at winscar was a real welcome, my wife sue doing the honours by bringing pasties pies hot drinks and water top ups. knowing after the feed station there were only 3 serious climbs it was just tap tap tap as the saying goes. It was nice to see some newbies trying this very tough route and still had a smile on their faces when we had finished the Ride. It would have been rude not to finish the ride without having a toast and salute to pte Matthew Adam Thornton of 4th Yorkshire Regiment, Loved,Missed but not Forgotten Lest we Forget.
